In her report "“It’s in our DNA”. SMETs’ Resilience in Akureyri" Irene Carbone analyses resilience in small-medium enterprises operating in tourism (SMETs) in Akureyri. Irene’s research focuses on the correlation between the COVID-19 crisis and preparedness towards new possible crises.

The Journal of Arctic Tourism – ArcTour - has released its first reviewed article, titled Tales from the Frontier of sustainable global connectivity, authored by Charlotte Gehrke og Hannes Hansen-Magnusson.

The Journal of Arctic Tourism announces a call for papers for a Special Issue on Regenrative Tourism in Arctic and Nordic Geographies. The call is open through December 2024.

The ITRC has been awarded grant from the Icelandic Regional Development Institute’s Research Fund to conduct research on resident’s views and inclusion during the development of tourist roues.

The ITRC has been awarded grant from the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration’s research fund, for research project on rural drive tourism and tourist routes in rural areas.

The ITRC calls for abstracts, to a session on drive tourism in rural areas, for the 32nd Nordic Symposium on Tourism and Hospitality Research, held in Stavanger, Norway this September.

The ITRC is hosting Irene Carbone during her internship. Irene recently completed her MA in Sociology and Social Research at the University of Bologna. During her internship Irene will study the impact of COVID-19 on local tourism level.
