Cultural tourism in North Iceland
A research project conducted by the ITRC for Visit North Iceland that focused on the travel habits and attitudes of visitors to history related museums and exhibitions in North Iceland. The main purpose of the project was to better understand what draws tourists to the museums, how they experience these places and what the main characteristics of these visitors are.
The research project was based on a questionnaire that was distributed among museum visitors in collaboration with fourteen museums, centres, and exhibitions in North Iceland during the summer of 2019. Additionally the project drew on existing material relating to tourism in North Iceland and cultural tourism in Iceland.
The findings were released in November 2019.
