Organiser: Mona Anita K. Olsen
Affiliation: Norwegian School of Hotel Management, University of Stavanger
Description
The Really Big Idea Sketchpad to Approach to Shaping Mobile Futures: From Ideation to Execution is an interactive workshop intended to encourage active-learning, reflection, and community building among participants at the 29th Nordic Symposium in Tourism and Hospitality Research. This interactive workshop will provide an overview of the entrepreneurial tool, The Really Big Idea Sketchpad. An example of using The Really Big Idea Sketchpad as a call to action tool in the hospitality industry will be provided and examples of how The Really Big Idea Sketchpad has been used in other universities as a mechanism to encourage ideation and execution.
Participants will engage in small groups to discuss considerations in addressing one of the major questions from the conference, “What sort of tools and methods are needed to plan for and manage tourism sustainably in a changing COVID19 world?”. Then, participants will work in pairs to come up with an entrepreneurial solution that can be considered either by a business, academic entity, or community. Participants will have the opportunity to pitch to others in the workshop to obtain feedback on their Really Big Idea Sketchpad submissions. Participants will also have the opportunity to iterative on their work during the session.
Participants will be encouraged to post their completed Really Big Idea Sketchpad ideas as a call to action on social media outlets with the hashtags: #shapingmobilefutures #makeadifference #tourism #thereallybigideasketchpad #nordicresearch #COVID19. The completed Really Big Idea Sketchpads will be compiled electronically after the session and distributed accordingly in hopes of encouraging the execution of the ideas within the home ecosystems that each participant returns to after the conference.
