A new book on entrepreneurship in tourism

Recently, the book Tourism Entrepreneurship: Knowledge and Challenges for a Sustainable Future was published by Springer Palgrave. The book is the offspring of the research group Entrepreneurship and Family Business in Tourism (Touref) managed by ITRC and led by Desiderio J. García Almeida from the University of Las Palmas in the Canary Islands. Desiderio is one of the four editors of the book, the others are Gunnar Þór Jóhannesson, professor of tourism at the University of Iceland, Þórhallur Örn Guðlaugsson, professor of business administration at the University of Iceland and Guðrún Þóra Gunnarsdóttir, director of RMF.

The topic of the book revolves around entrepreneurship and its relationship with the sustainable development of tourism, its meaning and manifestations. Central to the book's overarching theme is the pivotal role of knowledge in equipping tourism entrepreneurs to confront the multifaceted challenges they encounter, thereby fostering a sustainable future.

In addition to the introductory chapter, there are ten chapters by authors from from diverse regions, primarily across Europe, including Icelandic academics from the University of Iceland, Hólar university and the Icelandic Tourism Research Centre.
