An insight on the new Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) data for Iceland. Presentation at University of Iceland
On Monday October 5th, at 15:00, the Icelandic Tourism Research Centre, together with Statistics Iceland, gives a presentation of the making of the new Tourism Satellite Account during the period 2009-2013. The presentation will be delivered by Dr. Christi Frent in room 101 in Lögberg, the University of Iceland.
In June and August 2015 Statistics Iceland released new Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) data for Iceland for the reference period 2009-2013. This was a result of a collaborative project with Icelandic Tourism Research Centre in which Dr. Frent was involved. TSA provides important macroeconomic aggregates to characterize the size of tourism within an economy i.e. contribution to GDP and other aggregates. However, it is necessary to reveal how to properly use these results and moreover to understand better some concepts and methodological issues which were used in the compilation of TSA. This talk will also try to clarify some issues related to the application of TSA as a statistical method in the particular case of Iceland. The economic importance of tourism in Iceland as given by the TSA data will be analysed and explained.
The presentation wil be held in English.
