Launching We Lead's Gender Advocacy Toolkit
ITRC, in cooperation with Transformia, held an online event to launch We lead’s new Gender Advocacy Toolkit. The event was held as part of the University of Hólar’s lecture series about current tourism research and issues in Iceland. After the presentation, there were lively discussions about diverse leadership and sustainable practices within tourism, which is something attendees agreed were much needed topics in today’s climate.
We Lead is an Erasmus+ funded European project that started in 2022 with the objective of creating new educational resources to break down barriers and enable inclusions for all women working in the sector, who are currently unable to advance their education or careers due to these barriers.
All the resources created for We Lead can be accessed in Icelandic, English and Spanish on the project’s website:
The newest resources are our…
Facilitators Manual: Empowering Women Leadership in Tourism, Leisure & Hospitality, which is designed to serve as a comprehensive guide for leaders within the tourism industry to develop robust advocacy strategies to foster and promote greater gender balance within the sector and sustainable tourism practices.
The Manual includes:
- Resources and tips on how you can integrate the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals into your leadership practices.
- Why advocacy work is important and how you can build your campaign step-by-step.
- Examples of campaigns and initiatives, and useful links and resources to inspire you to take action!
The Manual furthermore acts as a guide to how all of We Lead’s resources can be used to move your advocacy work and campaigns forward.
We Lead's Guide to Online Campaigning is a source of inspiration for how to implement a digital campaign of your own. It includes themes and what strategies tourism actors and stakeholders can use to raise awareness and start a conversation. It is designed as a companion to We Lead’s Facilitator’s Manual. The Guide includes tips and tricks on how you can gather interest from your target audience to your campaign and offers suggestions for the types of content you can create for Instagram and/or other social media sites.
We have created two versions of the Guide
- The Guide to Online Campaigning: Amplifying Women’s Leadership in Tourism, Leisure, and Hospitality is aimed at tourism networks, female empowerment networks, DMOs and tourism actors who want to launch an online campaign to promote and amplify women’s leadership and gender equality in the tourism sectors.
- The Guide to Online Campaigning: Promoting Sustainable Tourism Practices and Encourage Tourists to Make Sustainable Choices is aimed at women leaders in tourism, SMEs, and other tourism actors who want to launch an online campaign to promote and encourage sustainable tourism practices.
And last but not least, our new Digital Forum an inspiring and interactive digital space designed to empower and connect aspiring women leaders in the tourism and hospitality sectors. This unique platform brings together e-learning, peer learning, and multimedia resources to help you along your leadership journey.
