New intern at the ITRC
For the upcoming 4 months, the ITRC will host an intern, Hana Sáblíková from Mendel University in Brno, Czech Republic. Hana is a Ph.D. candidate in Applied and Landscape Ecology and devotes her Ph.D. thesis to Potentials and limits of rural tourism development in a selected areas of the Czech Republic. During her internship, she will be supervised by Guðrún Þóra Gunnarsdóttir.
Hana´s research interest includes sustainable tourism development, role of cultural events, concept of traditions in rural areas as well as rural development opportunities. During her internship, Hana will write a paper on sustainable tourism practices in the private sector of Akureyri.
In her dissertation, Hana deals with the evaluation and comparison of two smaller municipalities in different regions of the Czech Republic. Specifically in the South Moravian region, which is famous for its tourist attractiveness, and in the Pardubice region, which is better known for industries. Hana examines the influence of traditions in the area and pays great attention to the evaluation of cultural events.
