New research project on cultural tourism in North Iceland
The ITRC and Visit North Iceland signed a contract recently regarding a new research project on cultural tourism in North Iceland.
The project focuses on the travel habits and attitudes of visitors to history related museums and exhibitions in the area. The main purpose of the project is to better understand what draws tourists to the museums, how they experience these places and what the main characteristics of these visitors are.
The research project will be based on a questionnaire distributed among museums visitors in collaboration with museums and exhibitions in conjuncture with an analysis of existing research on cultural tourism in North Iceland.
The findings are scheduled to be presented in the fall of 2019.
