The ITRC participated in the Responsible Tourism in Destinations conference
Guðrún Þóra Gunnarsdóttir, Þórný Barðadóttir and Ása Marta Sveinsdóttir participated in the 15th Responsible Tourism in Destinations conference that took place in the Helsinki Central Library Oodi 9-10 June.
Responsible Tourism in Destinations is an international conference that is held annually. This year's conference was organized by ICRT Finland in collaboration with Visit Finland under the theme: Advancing Responsible Tourism.
Guðrún Þóra Gunnarsdóttir, the director of the ITRC, was invited to be a keynote at the conference and presented From Growth-pains to Crisis – Tourism Development in Iceland and the Question of Resiliency, as well as participate in the panel discussion Local community collaboration in responsible tourism.
Ása Marta Sveinsdóttir, researcher at the ITRC, participated in the first session of the conference and presented The path to responsible cruise tourism in Ísafjörður.
Þórný Barðadóttir, researcher at the ITRC, participated in the second session of the conference and presented “Please, tourism, do not ruin our Melrakkaslétta” Tourism development in a marginal area.
