Tourism in Crisis meeting in Iceland
The ITRC is a participant in the Erasmus+ project Tourism Crisis Navigation, which has its goal to design and produce teaching material, in order to strengthen the resilience of the tourism industry in crisis.
In this project are partners from Germany, Spain, Ireland, Denmark, Scotland and Iceland.
Recently, a two-day project meeting was held in Hveragerði, Iceland, where the partners discussed the status and continuation of the project as well as learning about Icelandic tourism.
In addition to traditional meeting, the group went visiting various tourism operators and stakeholders in the area; Skyrland, Caves of Hella, Thingvellir national park and Visit South Iceland.
The project aims to develop curricula and materials to enable different educational institutions to offer education and training for small and medium-sized companies and entrepreneurs of the future, in the tourism industry, in order to acquire the skills, tools and equipment necessary to deal with crisis effectively.
The products will be aimed at:
- Small and medium-sized companies
- Students at university level
- The regional tourism support system
The products of the project will be free and accessible to everyone. The project is to be completed in the second half of 2023.
