Rural Drive Tourism Research Network
The Rural Drive Tourism Research Network (RDTRN) is a network of researchers directing their research focus on drive tourism, rural tourism and tourism routes as well as their niches.
The network was initiated in the fall of 2024, following a special session on Rural Drive Tourism at the annual Nordic Symposium on Tourism and Hospitality Research.
The special session, hosted by the ITRC, counted participants from the geographical scope of the Nordic countries, Southern Europe and Asia.
Some (not exclusive) issues the research network focuses on, include the following themes:
- Rural drive tourism
- (Branded) Rural tourism routes
- Roads in rural tourism
- Multiply uses of rural roads
- Developments in rural drive tourism
- Rural host communities
- Rural road conditions
The aim of the RDTRN is to broaden and build relationships between researchers interested in this field. It welcomes researchers interested in such research from all over the world.
For further information and/or requests about the RDTRN, please do not hesitate to contact Eyrún Jenný Bjarnadóttir (ejb@rmf.is) and/or Þórný Barðadóttir (thorny@rmf.is) at the ITRC.
